Opera programmers were among the first to raise public awareness of web mining, and very soon they offered a solution to this unpleasant phenomenon - even in mobile spending these days. Fortunately, there are many alternatives, so we can keep our machine’s resources safe even if we favor Google Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or any other browser. In this case, we will probably need external help, it may be useful to use an add-on that automatically loads and keeps a list of filters up to date - chances are it will be “NoCoin”.

There are other methods, such as page-specific disabling of JavaScript, if you can, to prevent Coinhive and others from working. Of course, we need to be careful with this step, as we go back to the Stone Age in a moment, as JavaScript is often essential for web pages. Whatever way we defend ourselves, by clicking on the image above, we can immediately see how our method performs in sharp conditions. According to Opera statistics, every fourth candidate in the test (25,4%) failed, in these browsers it is practically up to a couple of lines of code to commit the CPU performance. The site warns us not to be surprised if our PC gets louder during the scan, this is a natural part of this thing and (probably) a consequence of being vulnerable - we think the load time is so short that no one can have a problem.

By the way, one of the best-known websites in Hungary was MOOvie.cc, which utilized visitors' computers in this way to generate revenue. Prior to the incident, the film portal was in a very prominent position in the popularity ranking of domestic websites; took 161st place.
