On the way to the new PlayStation 3?

Based on the leaked sketches, the new Sony PlayStation 3 has been dubbed the PS3 Cech-4001x - the current versions run under the name CECH-3000. It was no accident that the company decided on the redesign: over time, the engineers managed to improve production efficiency, making production cheaper. The new version can thus be smaller, thinner and lighter, but we would not be surprised if the consumption of the console were also reduced. Unfortunately, the document does not shed much light on the details.

Sony is not the first to take this step. Even at the end of the PlayStation 2's life cycle, a version was made that was smaller and cheaper to produce.
