Ultra-slim Sony VAIO Z laptop with Sandy Bridge

Ultra-slim Sony VAIO Z laptop with Sandy BridgeThe VAIO Z Series has recently been updated with a 13,1-inch notebook that boasts a 16,65mm profile, Sandy Bridge and carbon fiber housing.

The weight of the new VAIO is only 1,18 kilograms, it comes with a pre-installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1 operating system, thanks to the machine's Quick Boot function, the boot time can be reduced by up to 50%. Even from the Windows version, it is clear that the machine is intended for professional users, but upon further investigation, we can realize that this is not the only telltale sign. The resolution of the 13,1-inch display can be 1600 × 900 or 1920 × 1080 pixels, the processor is a 2,7 GHz i7-2620M, which is supported by 8 GB of RAM and (max.) 256 GB of SSD. The display is provided by the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics, but this is perfectly sufficient for a business machine. Of course, we do not have to give up the 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G, web camera, fingerprint reader, USB 3.0, HDMI package that is usual in this segment. The built-in battery can provide 7 hours of operating time, but unfortunately we cannot replace it, although in the case of these hair-thin notebooks, the more routine reader will not be surprised. However, Sony also offers an external battery that can be charged separately - but can be connected to the machine at any time - so you can squeeze out up to 14 hours of operating time with a "single" charge.

The Power Media Dock expands the range of optional features, allowing you to slightly turbo-charge the base unit, as engineers have saved space on the laptop itself for thinness. The dock features a Radeon HD 1 graphics chip with 6650GB of memory, a DVD or Blue-ray drive, several USB 2.0 and 3.0, plus D-Sub and HDMI outputs.

The VAIO Z will arrive in Europe at the end of July, starting at £ 1400, but that's all we get for i5 procit, 4GB of memory and a 128gig SSD. For the top build, we have to reach well into our pockets, and the dock also tastes at least £ 400.
