New portable blu-ray burner from Samsung

Samsung has unveiled its new portable blu-ray burner, the sleek SE-506AB optical drive. Available in glossy black, the streamlined, scratch-resistant SE-506AB is 12 percent smaller than Samsung’s traditional Blu-ray drive, making it even easier to carry. The device draws power from the USB port, so it does not require external power to operate.

The SE-506AB is fully compatible with major operating systems, including Windows 7 and Macintosh OS X. The device is equipped with Buffer Under Run technology, which prevents buffer clearing errors that can occur when the write speed exceeds the data transfer rate. In addition, when you run multiple programs at the same time, the blu-ray disc burns flawlessly.

Thanks to the AV connector, the new SE-506AB can be easily connected to a TV via the USB port, so the multimedia content on the device can also be displayed on a television. While previous optical drives recognized only the first subfolders and a total of 1000 files, the new SE-506AB even handles the fifth subfolder and accesses more than 3000 files.

The external drive also supports four-layer blu-ray discs and can write different disc types at the following speeds: 6X BD-ROM, 24X CD-ROM, 24 CD-RW, 6X BD-R, 6X BD-R Dual Layer, 4X BD-R Quad Layer, 8X DVD ± R, 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD + R Dual Layer, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD + RW, 6X DVD-RW.

The new Samsung blu-ray burner is a low-energy, environmentally friendly product made with lead-free soldering technology that meets international environmental standards that limit the use of hazardous materials.

The SE-506AB will be available in Hungary from mid-October at a recommended gross end-user price of HUF 29.
