Telenor Hungary's experts forecast an explosive growth in the number of devices communicating via mobile data networks in the coming years. In addition to smartphones, tablets and computers, targeted devices that monitor industrial and logistical processes and collect health-related data (such as blood pressure or blood sugar levels) are increasingly providing data. By 2020, 15 billion such devices can be connected automatically worldwide, and 40 million machines are expected to be connected in Hungary in the next decade. Nearly half of the M2M connections operated by Telenor Hungary, about 43 percent, support the communication of devices for vehicle tracking and fleet management, but there are also a significant number of connections in the field of security technology (20%) and remote reading (17%).

Communication between machines in these areas not only contributes to the reduction and rationalization of expenditures, but also greatly helps to save energy, and thus to promote environmental aspects. In addition, M2M solutions make everyday life easier for users, whether they are working, maintaining health or healing. A reliable data connection can be established for the devices via Telenor Hungary's network, so mobility or possible geographical isolation is not an obstacle to real-time data processing.

Thanks to the developments, several devices are already available in Hungary that offer intelligent solutions in everyday life. The safety of telemedicine, for example, is enhanced primarily by the telemedicine device, which is suitable for alerting doctors and ambulances. The equipment is all based on the Telenor Objects M2M framework, which specializes in Telenor Group M2M solutions.

“M2M technology is the area where we need to invent the future. The winners will be end users, surrounded by smart devices that perform their tasks automatically without human supervision and are intelligently connected in the background. The rapid spread of the technology in Hungary is well illustrated by the fact that the number of M2M cards at Telenor has increased by 40 percent per year in recent years. ” Said Győző Drozdy, Telenor's CEO's strategic advisor.
