AMD intends to use the Z-60 APU in tablets

Intel has already announced a solution called the Z2760 (Clover Trail), so the parties have also dug trenches in the field of tablets.
AMD Fusion APU
The AMD Z-60 APU (Hondo) is a mixture of a 1 GHz dual-core processor and a Radeon HD 80 IGP running from an 6250 stream processor. The 4,79-watt TDP is undoubtedly higher than the 2760-watt power consumption seen with the Intel Z1,7, but the difference in performance can be enveloped accordingly. According to AMD, Hondo is an ideal partner for creating tablets up to 10 millimeters thick, which already projects acceptable heat production.
Z60-BatteryUnder average conditions, the TDP can range from 3,9 to 4,5 watts. [+]
According to internal measurements, we don't have to worry (very) about energy hunger, as the Z-60 requires 1,12 watts of APU while browsing, while an HD video can be solved from 1,57 watts - unfortunately, the Fusion Controller Hub (FCH ) platform control chip power requirements. Theoretically, Hondo tablets can pull out for up to 2 weeks in standby mode, movies can be enjoyed for 6 hours, and surfing the web for approx. It closes after 8 hours. This is a nice performance, as AMD has made minor changes to the architecture (the Bobcat cores have remained), and the manufacturing technology is still 40nm, while Intel is already using the 32nm bandwidth.

Of course, the big advantage of the Hondo may not be in the processor area - although it can run Windows 8 - but in the Radeon HD 6250 IGP, but we haven't seen many measurements in this regard yet. In connection with 3DMark 06, it was revealed that the Z-60 reached 1701 points there. In any case, for sure, we can take advantage of the UVD engine in Windows 8, DirectX 11 is also supported, and the GPU can withstand up to 1920 × 1200 pixels. You can also read in the picture above, Hondo-based tablets also have USB 3.0 support.

We do not currently know what pricing the Z2760 and Z-60 will receive. Hopefully AMD will be aggressive here as well, so Hondo tablets could be a success.
