More beautiful graphics on mobile devices

Toshiba's latest graphics processor can result in significant visual improvements in mobile devices and handheld consoles that use it.

The new chip is an improvement over Toshiba's previous product in virtually every area: the GPU, which displays up to 800 megapixels per second, is about 38 times faster than its predecessor. In addition to performance, the graphics processor is making significant strides, especially in terms of shading and reflection effects.

The first samples of the chip, which also supports high-resolution widescreen displays, will be completed in October this year, but series production is not expected to begin until the second quarter of 2008.
