India’s Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd. is advertising the world’s first solar desktop computer and will soon be selling its machine with pre-installed Ubuntu Linux. The price was set at about 680 US dollars. In addition, no specifications have come to light, but since it has to use very little power, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the VIA pc3500 platform with its own 20-watt power consumption.
Why India?
