HP sets its own records

The company's computer business closed the second quarter with a record result.

Hewlett-Packard (HP) 's computer business (PSG) grew in the second quarter of 2010, far outpacing the domestic computer market. The company has a market share of 24%, while its successor competitor will carve out 10% less of the market. Despite the crisis, HP was also able to increase sales of desktops and laptops, strengthening its market leadership.

In Hungary, in the second quarter of this year, HP was able to increase its sales in the field of desktop computers by 51,7%, thus gaining 37,5% of the market, which is the best result since the 2002 HP - Compaq merger. "We can also consider this period as a record result because the desktop PC market has only been able to grow by 9,9% in the past one year," said Kristóf Takáts, Head of HP PSG, Deputy CEO of HP Magyarország Kft. HP has also been able to grow in the laptop market, with sales up 11,6% to 19,1% of the market, according to IDC research.
