Details of the new DDR3 memory clock world record

The Romanian tuning team Lab501 set three new world records during a live tuning event with the world’s fastest dual-channel memory kit, the Kingston HyperX KHX2544C9D3T1FK2 / 2GX kit.

We’ve reported on the event before, but now more details have come to light.

The three new records achieved with RAM modules were set on December 2011, 3 by Matei “Matose” Mihatoiu, Tudor “Monstru” Badica and Razvan “Micutzu” Fatu, three Romanian tuning champions of the world-renowned Lab501 team. The records were set at a live tuning event at eMAG's showroom in Bucharest, Romania, in the presence of nearly 100 viewers of tuning and two local television crews. The highest 3600 MHz clock record was set alongside CAS 10 (Column Address Strobe Latency), the highest memory clock achieved in the world using DDR3 SDRAM memories. At the same event, the Lab501 team also set a world record with 9 MHz for CAS 3479 and 8 MHz for CAS 3275. To achieve these, the modules were cooled to -196 ° C with liquid nitrogen.

“We have a long history of working with Kingston Technology and were looking forward to achieving at least one world record with our fastest dual-channel memory pool,” said Tudor Badica, a founding member of the Lab501 team.

“Kingston shipped the kit a week earlier, so after a few experiments and tests, I was confident that these models could deliver remarkable speed,” explained Matei Mihatoiu, a founding member of the Lab501 group after breaking the records.

“We are very grateful for the support from Kingston Technology, which has allowed us to be the first in tuning DDR3 SDRAM modules,” said Razvan Fatu, a founding member of the Lab501 team.
