Mysterious BIOS arrives for Intel Z370 platforms (updated)

It is very likely that the boards with the Z370 chipset will cope with the upcoming update of Coffee Lake, where Intel will presumably already offer eight-core processors. We believe this from the fact that MSI e.g. characterized the update as bringing support for the new generation of CPUs (Coffee Lake-S), which in our view should be nothing more than a reworked version of the current models that have already been heralded many times. One more processor may come up, but the Core i7-8086K started last month, and the Core i7-8700K-based solution certainly didn't require major changes to the motherboard control, and that's what happened now.

At another manufacturer, we can see that the 8th Core generation is mentioned in the comments section. This may be explained by the fact that Ice Lake will be the 9th generation and Coffee Lake S will be classified next to the current one. Whatever happens, we think it will be decided next month.

Update!

Using the AMI Aptio inspection tool, it was found that each BIOS (ASUS, ASRock, and MSI) contains the 06EC microcode (06EA and 06EB are required to support current Coffee Lake chips), which protects against Specter vulnerabilities on the one hand and Intel Core on the other. Essential to support 9000 series. So it’s likely the Z370 will indeed be usable with 8-core Coffee Lake processors, but due to the higher power requirements of the chips, it’s possible to be the only one in the 300 Series chipsets - cheaper boards may probably be low on power for the new big gun.
