Let’s add that the situation isn’t as severe as it is with the 8500Gig versions of the lower-end 8600 GT and 1 GT controllers, but in our opinion, the G112 core, equipped with 92 computing units, can no longer really benefit from 1024 megabytes of storage. Maybe there may be some difference when using very extreme resolutions and filters, but due to the 256-bit-wide memory bus, the excess may eventually sink to a measurement error level.

We’ll see, anyway, Asus wants to launch the 1-gig 8800 GT, which runs on NVIDIA-recommended clocks. Unfortunately, we do not have information about the price, and we do not even dare to know the exact release date, knowing the current conditions.
