Radeon 5770 X2

After Hemlock, here's another dual-GPU Radeon.

A Chinese manufacturer called Yeston decided to take a rather strange step by introducing a new Evergreen model with a Dual-GPU design, ie two graphics processors on a PCB, just before the HD 6000 series was released. The special thing about this is that this is not the monster that AMD also made under the codename Hemlcok, but uses two Juniper GPUs instead of Cypress.

The Juniper graphics processor is the soul of the Radeon 5700 series, so the name of the new product has not surprisingly become Radeon 5770 X2. The company did not touch the Junipers, meaning everything follows the reference recommendation, which covers an 850 MHz core and a 4.800 MHz memory clock. Thanks to the doubling, the number of stream processors thus increased to 1600, while the number of texturizers increased to 80. Communication between the two GPUs has been entrusted to a Lucid chip, but Crossfire is also supported.

The power supply is 4 + 1 phase. It is definitely a commendable thing that the consumption has not doubled, under full load the product does not ask for more than 150 Watts. This is also evidenced by the fact that only one piece of 6-pin PCI-E cable needs to be connected. The two Juniper received 1-1 GB of GDDR5 memory manufactured by Hynix.

Video outputs include two DVIs, an HDMI and a DisplayPort. This move by the manufacturer is a bit perhaps incomprehensible and strange, as the HD 6000 series is already here on the doorstep.
