The first 100GB Blu-Ray disc will be available soon

This time, the Sharp team was the fastest in development.

Sharp will launch the world’s first 100GB Blu-Ray discs later this month. The huge capacity of the discs following the BDXL standard was achieved with three data layers. With four layers of data, 128GB of capacity would already be available, but unfortunately there is no information yet on when the company will launch them. Of course, the new development also requires new players, so older Blu-Ray players don’t know what to do with the new discs. From Sharp’s repertoire, the model called “Aquos BD-HDW700 / 70” already supports the BDXL standard.

The price of the new records will be quite peppery, as you will have to pay no less than 5000 yen for your piece, or 45 euros.
