Details on Intel's next generation chipsets

As is well known, the Bearlake chipset family, which is currently being introduced, will be replaced by Eaglelake in the second half of 2008.

From the table on the VR-Zone page and the detailed description from DailyTech, we learn that the Eaglelake, which replaces the Bearlake series - G33, P35, G35 and X38 - will be available in three versions. Because we have already reported in our previous news the main features of the next-generation chipset family, so we will ignore this now and focus on describing the specifics of each chip.

Eaglelake-P: Motherboards with a chipset that can be considered the successor to the P35 Express will have two PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, but they are not full-fledged, doing just 8x the speed. Unfortunately, Intel has not revealed more about support for CrossFire or SLI multi-card technologies.

Eaglelake-G: The key feature of the chipset is an integrated graphics processor with support for state-of-the-art technologies, of course: hardware acceleration for playback of DirectX 10, Intel Clear Video, H.264 and VC-1 video formats.

Eaglelake Q: The chipset for business computers is built in the spirit of the latest vPro platform. Named McCreary, the vPro includes Intel AMT 5.0 Active Management, Directed I / 0 Virtualization Technology, Trusted Execution, and an integrated TPM 1.2 module.
