PLA4231 electrical network - wifi adapter

Zyxel has introduced the latest addition to its powerline product line: the PLA4231 powerline-wifi adapter. The company’s new solution is a combined device that allows a direct transition from a wireless Internet connection over the 230-volt power grid to web access and back.

With this method, smartphones, tablets and laptops are also able to connect freely to the Internet in virtually every corner of the apartment. Where the wifi signal is not available for some reason, the electrical network can be used for data transmission, while it is possible to seamlessly switch to a wifi connection where the electrical network ends. The solution makes extremely efficient use of the two technologies most commonly used in homes.

ZyXEL's new wireless adapter also makes the existing electrical network available via Wi-Fi, so it can serve the needs of mobile device users. The technology used by the PLA4231 adapter enables high-speed 500 Mbps data transfer, speeding up online viewing of media content by up to 200 percent compared to the manufacturer's previous-generation HomePlug AV 60 Mbps technology. With an enhanced version of ZyXEL QoS (Bandwidth Management) technology built into the device, users not only get better network performance, but also reliability and stability in their Internet connection, allowing users to consume multimedia content in the quality they expect.

The PLA4231 also includes an easy-to-follow installation wizard and a WPS button that allows you to easily and quickly turn the wireless network on and off. In addition, pressing the WPS button launches the Advanced Encryption Security (AES) mechanism, which protects user data while browsing the home network. The ZyXEL PLA4231, like the rest of the product family, has a white, multi-colored LED display that shows the signal quality to the user, so you can easily monitor the status of your Internet access. The device can be easily turned on / off, so when not in use, power consumption can be reduced, protecting both the wallets of Internet users and the environment.

The recommended end-user price of the device is HUF 18, which will be available in Hungary from the end of February.
