Smart meters at Telenor base stations

From September, Telenor will install smart meters on its 308 base stations.
Smart meters at Telenor base stations 1 According to EU regulations, by 2020, 80% of electricity consumers must be equipped with a smart meter if their use is reasonable and cost-effective. From autumn this year to the end of the year, Telenor will replace the current meters with smart meters at its 308 base stations operating in the service areas of ELMŰ and ÉMÁSZ. The smart meters provide more frequent and accurate information on the energy consumption of each station than the traditional system, so that the energy savings achieved through the lower energy consumption network elements installed during network modernization become immediately visible.

Consumption data is queried every 15 minutes by the electricity providers' central data collection system via Telenor's mobile network, and the stored data can be tracked at any time via a web interface, thus accurately monitoring station energy consumption and energy efficiency tools and software. data are included.

The development concerns 248 Telenor base stations in the service area of ELMŰ - in Budapest and its surroundings - and 60 Telenor base stations in the service area of ÉMÁSZ - in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves and Nógrád counties.

Telenor's total energy consumption is approx. 88% is accounted for by the operation of the mobile network.
