Nvidia: Kepler will be available from 2012

Nvidia’s next peak tile will be in production soon and will be available from 2012 onwards.

This information could have been heard before, but then the news source did not point to Nvidia, but now this information from sources that are otherwise close to the manufacturer has also been confirmed from the manufacturer.

The next-generation top tile is already on its way, that’s for sure so far, unfortunately it won’t be on store shelves this year, but there’s already a chance for tests, as mass production will start as early as possible in the fourth quarter. AMD is a little ahead, but the situation there is not very bright either, of course they are relatively close to each other in terms of operations, presumably, but overall we are talking about slippage.

Nvidia will follow the usual path in launching the next generation of tiles, as it did with Fermi, although of course with a faster schedule. The first round will focus on the successor to the GF110, which will presumably again be a larger chip, probably around 500 mm2, and will be deployed in the desktop segment. This will be followed by the mid-range chip, which will replace the hugely successful GF114 chip, where more attention will be paid to consumption, thanks to which it will be a graphics processor for the top of the mobile segment.
