Sandy Bridge-E will start in November

The few weeks before Christmas this year will also be quite hectic among processor manufacturers. At least according to the current signs.

Information has come to light from Intel that this time accurately marks the time of launching the latest state-of-the-art processors. Everyone knows what this is about, hopefully. The processor family, named Sandy Bridge-E, will be the successor to Westmere; and intended primarily for desktops, but thanks to its performance, it can probably be an integral part of smaller workstations as well. Intel has already put a lot of dates on it over the past year, initially promising the release of the chip by the end of the summer, but later they started packing further and further, reaching all the way to Q2012 1, to the sadness of many. But thankfully, the ongoing speculation didn’t end here either, based on a leaked student that came up at the same time that it was coming in October, but now we’ve got an exact date. Hopefully the packing will be over and it will be scheduled on November 15th.

Although on this day, in principle, the chipset for it, the X79. Here, an LGA2011 enclosure will adorn the motherboard interface, to which are connected no less than four-channel memory controllers that, according to factory data, support the modules up to DDR3 1333 MHz. Up to 14 USB 2.0 ports, 10 SATA ports - of which 6 can be SATA III, 4 SATA II and 4 support SATA SAS -, 8 PCIe 2.0 channels and 2 PCI-E in 16x mode - or up to 4 PCI-E but by then at up to 8x speed - and we don’t have to give up PCI either, presumably.
