Nokia 3250: Screw Music Phone

The music-centric mobile phone has separate music keys and enough storage space for 750 songs.

The Nokia 3250, Nokia’s latest music phone, was the focus of interest at the Nokia Trends electronic music festival in Germany this weekend. Thanks to the special design of the phone, its traditional telephone keypad is turned into separate music keys. The Nokia 3250 can store up to a gigabyte of high quality music (750 songs) that can be listened to for 10 hours. Users can also take advantage of the Nokia 3250’s two-megapixel camera and smartphone features. Delivery of the tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 model is expected to start in the first quarter of 2006 and will be priced at around € 350 excluding subsidies and taxes.

"Nokia connects people with their passion, music: as the world's largest manufacturer of digital music players, our goal is the widespread distribution of mobile music. With the help of the XpressMusic brand, which was also presented today, users can now more easily recognize Nokia devices specially designed for listening to music," said Kai Öistämö, Vice President of Nokia Mobile Phones. "One of our first devices with the XpressMusic brand is the Nokia 3250, which will be a real hit for music fans. Thanks to its unique, twistable shape, we can easily switch between the music buttons, the traditional keyboard, and the camera mode.”

Users can move between the music keys and the standard telephone keypad by rotating the keypad of the Nokia 3250 180 degrees. The Nokia 3250 music player supports a number of digital music formats, including MP3, WMA, M4A, and AAC, so music can be easily uploaded and transferred. You can also download music on the go over the network and set your favorite songs as ringtones. The Nokia 3250 supports up to a gigabyte microSD memory card that can hold up to 750 numbers. The Nokia 3250's music offering is complemented by an FM radio with a Visual Radio client.

Music that can be managed by moving icons
Users can convert songs on their favorite CDs to digital music files with Nokia Audio Manager, and then place an icon of their own music collection and favorite selections from the computer directly to the phone. The 20 mm jack of the Nokia Stereo Headset HS-3,5 can also be connected to the user's own headset, so even more accessories can be associated with the Nokia 3250. To ensure the best sound, Nokia is constantly working to make the Nokia 3250 compatible with accessories from several industry-leading brands such as Bose, Harman Kardon, JBL, and Sennheiser Electronic.

The Nokia 3250 has a two-megapixel camera that turns on in panorama mode when the device's keyboard is rotated 90 degrees. Images can be instantly shared with others via MMS in a few simple steps, or printed on a compatible printer using Bluetooth wireless technology.

Based on the Series 60 platform and the Symbian operating system, the Nokia 3250 offers a wide range of features and messaging modes and allows independent application developers to create their own music applications. The completed applications can be downloaded and installed on the Nokia 3250. Combining smartphone features with on-the-go music, the Nokia 3250 has a talk time of up to 3 hours.
