The HIS HD 7970 IceQ Turbo X² is not a small track solution

The company today unveiled two new graphics cards. The HIS HD 7970 IceQ X² (H7970QM797G3M) and IceQ Turbo X² (H2QMT797G3M), born from the turbocharging of the AMD Radeon HD 2, put the bar really high.

history opening

his turboThe difference can be seen in the clocks. The former model follows the reference values recommended by AMD, while the latter has already been severely overdriven. The engineers here set the graphics processor from 925 MHz to 1050 MHz and the memories from 5,5 GHz to 5,6 GHz. After that, IceQ X² cooling definitely deserves a few lines. The solution uses three 6 mm and two 8 mm nickel-plated copper heat pipes to deliver heat to the densely laminated aluminum fins. The latter’s cooling has been solved with two 11,2cm fans, but perhaps even more interesting information is how the IceQ X² performs in sharp deployment. According to HIS measurements, the cooling system is 17 degrees colder and 15 dB quieter than the AMD reference cooling.

Unfortunately, the appearance and expected pricing of the HIS HD 7970 IceQ X² and IceQ Turbo X² have not been revealed.
