Some tips against smartphone addiction

Even the ancient Romans knew that without a smartphone, life is not life - they are dead! Seriously, it's a shame to deny that the phone has become an essential part of our lives today. Basically, this would not be a problem yet, the problem rather begins there that the language of the scales has tipped over strongly for many; they spend too much time mobilizing, an activity that is already at the expense of other areas (work, friends, social contacts, etc.). Here are some tips on how we can remove our much-loved mobile from us a little bit.

Some tips against smartphone addiction

Is your smartphone really that important?

Are you ill, maybe you can’t focus entirely on your work if you accidentally left the winter home? In most cases, it just means that you miss some “missed” offers, a few unsolicited emails, it’s probably not the end of the world that will happen today that you won’t be the last to know about!

1. Switch off the vibration.

According to a UK study - this is exceptionally not reinforcing the joke category now - adults in the UK check their mobile phones 33 times a day, compared to 90 for teenagers! If we, too, feel that this compelling, constant “desire for control” is beginning to prevail over us, it is worth turning off the vibrating alert. The idea behind this is obviously that we will not interrupt our work every 5 minutes, but only occasionally - it will be a little longer, of course.

2. It is not always necessary to check the energy level!

At the second station of psychological warfare, there will be one more reason to unlock the phone. It’s by no means necessary to constantly monitor the battery charge, these stuff will usually pull out one day anyway, in terms of operation it doesn’t matter if it’s at 80% or just 50 percent. Nor is it incidental that the frequent inspection only drains the battery unnecessarily!

3. Download the naughty wallpaper!

This tip is the product of former Google engineer Tristan Harris. The gentleman has done a lot of research on how cell phones affect concentration. He found that for many, spectacular home screens were already enough in themselves to grab the attention of owners. For this reason, the expert advises you to set some less attractive wallpaper, say a simple black image - for OLED owners, this will have a good effect even on runtime.

IPhone users can also try the following method:

  • In Settings> General> Accessibility> Display Settings, you can find Color Filters, where you can select Grayscale.

4. Professional help

We may find some contradiction in the fact that an application helps to quit mobilization, but the method can work independently. One of the best on this topic is the Forest, which by planting a virtual tree encourages us to use our phone at appropriate intervals. If we can’t wait for the break, the tree will dry out in moments, but if we succeed, we can plant an own forest over time. The thing may seem strange at first, otherwise it is based on the pomodoro method (25 minutes break after a 5 minute active period).

By definition, this isn’t the only app on this topic: it’s advisable to take a look at the Anti-addiction, and a SmartAppLock solutions. The latter believes in the deterrent effect, i.e. it determines for a minute exactly how much time we spent in the various programs - for us, Forest came in the best anyway.
