NAS arrives from Western Digital’s workshop

The dominant player in the hard disk market is also making its way into the network storage segment.

When creating the new product, Western Digital used the recipe of the already well-proven My Book series as an obvious solution. Accordingly, My Book World Edition is nothing more than a thoroughly turbocharged external hard drive, but with new capabilities, it offers a significantly wider range of uses than its predecessors. The device, which can be purchased with a capacity of 1 or 2 TB, can also be connected to our network via a Wi-Fi connection and a traditional Ethernet cable, after which, in addition to the role of a multimedia server, the small My Book can also accommodate our backups. An important factor is that the device already supports DLNA Version 1.5, which is more than advantageous in terms of compatibility. You are also welcome to use the USB port, to which you can connect a printer or an additional storage device.

We do not yet have specific information on the expected domestic purchase price of the device, however, the $ 230 (1 TB) and $ 450 (2 TB) recommendations provided by the manufacturer seem acceptable.
