N97 widgets standby on the Nokia 5800

A post has appeared on the dailymobile forum with a video showing the N97’s main screen in action on its popular 5800.

The video looks authentic as it was posted by someone who is not unfamiliar with Symbian modding. For the time being, things are still being tested, but if all is true then it will soon be available to everyone built into firmware that we can put on our device at home.

This addition opens up new options for 5800 owners, as they will even be able to display widgets on their main screen. The comments show that not only has the main screen been moved, but the 97 gets virtually a full N5800 software so all its features will be usable. It is puzzling why the Finnish company did not include this in the software of the device long ago, although then the number of customers of the N97 would certainly decrease.
