Looks like they ignore user requests.

What is Piriform, the developer of CCleaner, doing? (updated!)

The latest version (5.45) of the popular (at least once) application automatically collects data from users' computers. This information is recorded anonymously, and Piriform wants to better understand the needs of CCleaner users before making a major change. According to the developers, there is not much new in this, the program has previously analyzed the given computer, because this is the only way to indicate when maintenance is due. Let’s say they didn’t add that these stats weren’t sent to remote servers (in principle), but the current ones are.

Of course, data collection is far from new, it really helps the development of programs. The problem here is that the so-called “active monitoring” cannot be turned off because it will arm again after a restart! It is also not a solution to delete the autorun registry entry, because this is also written back by CCleaner - perhaps the task manager can be used to suspend the data collection process. So Piriform made a mistake again (or they intentionally go on users ’nerves), but now not as much as the last time CCleaner was viral for months.

Update!

Piriform has tightened the string so far, the problematic release in question has been canceled and replaced by the previous version (v5.44).
