The greatest virtual air battle of all time!

With the support of Intel, the biggest virtual air clash of all time lasted for two weekends in Budapest.

The virtual sky of the Budapest International Fair (BNV) was split into two categories by nearly 190 entrants. The competition was supported by Intel's latest technologies.

This year, between September 2005 and 17, 25, the III. Within the framework of the Hungarian Flight Simulator Championship (JETfly Air Combat Cup), the fights took place in two individual categories (1v1). It could be entered in the MiG-29 category (jet fighter, LockOn game simulator program) or in the Messerschmitt Bf-109 category (propeller II vh fighter, IL2: FB game simulator program).

The technical background, servers and workstations required for the competition were provided by Asbis Hungary, Intel's official distributor in Hungary. The servers were based on Intel’s latest architecture, while the computers were based on Intel® Pentium® 4 processors with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology.

Spectacular and quality matches characterized all four days of the competition. The decisive battles of the competition, together with the hundreds of interested people, were supported by the staff of the Kecskemét and Szolnok air bases and several MiG-29 and Mi-24 pilots on the spot.

In terms of the end result, there were surprises in both categories: last year's winners did not make it into the top four in either category, and the active fighter pilots again showed that they handle the computer's joystick skillfully after last year's weaker performance, as Captain Tibor Molnár from MH 59 in Kecskemét. The fighter pilot of Dezső Szentgyörgyi Aviation Base took the fourth place in the competition.

However, lovers of flight simulators have no reason to grieve, as virtual air combat continues from November 2005-23, 26. This is when the XNUMXst European Flight Simulator Championship, the “FORTIS Dogfight Cup”, will be held in Budapest, the venue of which will be Pavilion “B” of the C + D Military Technology Exhibition (Hungexpo). The interesting thing about the competition is that international, two-person teams, the so-called the fight between machine pairs will be seen.
