The Microsoft .NET Framework is a software development platform that supports rapid application development, platform independence, and network transparency.
The .NET Framework 2003, which comes standard with Windows Vista and can be installed separately on Windows Server 1 and XP (SP2 / SP3.0), includes a number of new application programming interfaces (APIs) based on ASP.NET, WinForms, ADO.NET and CLR.
