Micron memory will be added to the next Atom platform

The memory manufacturer has revealed several details about the Oak Trail platform.

Memory manufacturer Micron has announced that they will supply the memory for the next Intel Atom platform, codenamed “Oak Trail”. It will be an extremely energy-saving system that will combine old and new technologies, including, for example, the use of DDR2 type chips. The capacity of modules equipped with 50 Gbite chips, manufactured using the new 2 nm process, can range from 1 to 4 GB. The 800 MHz operating clock is achieved at 1,55 volts. According to Micron, these modules are the perfect choice for the Oak Trail platform, because high performance is combined with very low power consumption.

The Oak Trail platform includes a CPU dubbed the Lincroft codename and an associated chipset. According to current information, the TDP will be half the size of the current generation. This means that the TDP can be up to 3 watts, as the current Atom N455 has a TDP of 6,5 watts.
