SiS begins production of memory modules
UMC-owned Silicon Integrated Systems also wants its own slice of the sizeable pie in the memory module market.
SiS modules, which gain a great deal of experience and reputation primarily in making motherboard chipsets, are likely to be among the quality pieces, as will Kingston, Transcend or A-Data products. Trial production has started long ago and samples are also available from larger customers for testing.
The offer will include both the DDR2-800 / 667/533 and DDR400 / 333 modules and their notebook versions. According to the company's executives, the new products will greatly drop revenues already in the second half of the year.
