VIA has announced its latest processor family, the VIA Nano 3000-res series, which, true to its tradition, targets an extremely wide range of devices, including thin and light notebooks / netbooks, thanks to very low power consumption.

One of the keys to extremely good power consumption is that Nano processors are not frequency-intensive, with members of the 3000-series ranging from 1,0 GHz to 2,0 GHz, but the Nano 3000 series includes a number of other technologies that reduce relatively low clock speed disadvantages such as 64-bit support, support for CPU virtualization technology, knowledge of the SSE4 instruction set for faster multimedia processing, and an encryption process called VIA PadLock Security Engine that is unique in the market.
