The latest DTS software package has been released

Digital Theater Sound has officially announced the DTS-HD Master Audio Suite and DTS Surround Audio Suite will be available soon.

Both versions of the software package include an encoder and a decoder module, and an editor called Stream Tools. Supported operating systems: Mac OS 10.4.x and Windows XP.

DTS-HD Master Audio Suite (MAS) can create the following standard bitstreams: DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES 6.1, DTS 96/24, DTS-HD High Resolution and DTS-HD Master Audio (the latter two lossless formats, called actually created for the new blue laser formats). MAS is compatible with current DVD-Video and DTS-CD formats as well as the recently debuted HD-DVD and Blu-ray standards. It can encode up to 7.1 channels with a maximum sampling frequency of 192 kHz for next-generation data carriers. In addition, MAS includes a Low BitRate encoder for secondary audio streams, but we can also use this option for Internet material. The signal streams encoded in DTS-HD Master Audio format are backwards compatible with 5.1 and stereo downmixing, as well as with "plain" DTS (we can no longer talk about lossless compression).

The package also includes the StreamPlayer decoder module, with the help of which we can check back the generated bitstream, therefore it also handles multi-channel PC sound cards. With the help of the program, we can record the audio on the timeline to the video track, allowing us to check the compliance of the lip sync on a suitable external monitoring device.

With DTS Surround Audio Suite (SAS), you can create traditional DVD-Video and DTS Surround Music CDs, but of course you can switch to DTS-HD Master Audio Suite later by purchasing a product upgrade. The two packages are expected to cost around $ 800 to $ 1500 and are promised to be on store shelves in the fall.
