Chrome 12 has been released

Google’s new release of its browser focused mostly on bug fixes.

Google has released the 12th stable release of its browser called Chrome. You shouldn't expect much from the new version, as far as the new features are concerned. One important new feature is the hardware acceleration of 3D CSS. In addition, the company has disabled Google Gears. From now on, the browser can be used to delete Flash cookies and to manage so-called LSO (Local Stored Objects) objects. A tech demo designed to demonstrate the capabilities of 3D CSS on this page can be viewed. Fifteen of the security patches were repaired, but none of them received a critical rating.

Of course, the machinery won’t stop here, as Chrome 13 will be in beta soon, and Chrome 14 on the Dev channel will probably be released at the same time. Earlier versions of the software are automatically updated, however, if this is not the case for some reason must be downloaded manually from the official site.
