The AMD Radeon HD 7970 has conquered heaven

Japan’s Team Katana scored 3757,69 points in the most demanding mode of Unigine Heaven with a carbon-powered Radeon HD 7970 graphics card. With this maneuver, the new record was set.

768237The test configuration was built on an Asus Maximus IV Extreme motherboard with 4GB of DDR3 memory and an Intel Core i7-2600K processor, but the Radeon HD 7970 video card starred during the synthetic measurement program. For obvious reasons before overdriving, overcurrent and overheating protection was turned off and cooling was entrusted to liquid nitrogen. After fine-tuning, the core voltage stopped at 1,63 volts, increasing the speed of the graphics processor up to 1747 MHz. Anyway, the team tried to raise the aforementioned tension even higher, but in the end not much good came out of it. The huge data requirements of the GPU have been met with memories running at 7884 MHz effective clock speed. The latter endured this torture at 1,895 volts. Compared to these numbers, the Intel Core i7-2600K’s 5,0 GHz frequency is already an almost insignificant overdrive.
