The new Lenovo ThinkPad has arrived

Lenovo also introduced its latest ThinkPad model, the T400s, in Hungary. Designed for business users, the machine is thin, light and yet a high-performance, full-featured notebook.

The lightweight ThinkPad X300 inspired engineers to design the new T400s, resulting in a machine just 21mm thick and weighing 1,8kg. In order to achieve a thickness of just over two centimeters, the installation of the super-thin LED display and the small SSD helped the designers the most. Under the outer cover, strength is provided by the second-generation Top Cover Roll Cage, which was built into the X300 for the first time. Roll Cage is made up of a hardened carbon fiber with a hardened surface, which is most commonly used for bicycle frames and aircraft. The result is an incredibly lightweight, yet surprisingly durable construction that is nearly 20 percent lighter than its predecessor, the T400, but also much thinner and weighs less than the competing Dell E6400 or HP6930P.

The ThinkPad T series has always meant the strongest and most powerful, "heavy" notebooks, but with the appearance of the T400s, this last indicator can be abandoned. Users can enjoy the benefits of mobility without sacrificing the performance their work demands. In the design, Lenovo also paid attention to how corporate users use the keyboard, so they increased the size of the Escape or Delete keys, and reduced the gaps between the keys to prevent, for example, crumbs from falling under the keyboard. And the touchpad has been equipped with multitouch capability, which can greatly facilitate everyday use and redefine people's attitude towards touchpads. In addition to these, VoIP communication also played an important role. In addition to the use of a 2-megapixel camera, Lenovo increased the volume of the speakers and installed a double digital microphone on the device, which can also filter out unnecessary noises, such as the sound of typing. In addition, VoIP has its own user interface in order to access it as quickly as possible, so online communication applications can be controlled with LED-illuminated buttons.

"We created products like the ThinkPad T400s so that the thin and light design that is already expected in consumer IT can be included in the everyday life of corporate users," said Peter Hortensius, Lenovo's vice president for ThinkPads. "As a result of a thoughtful design, we managed to find a balance between better portability and high performance, as well as usability."
