Approaching 2 GHz, the GeForce GTX 680

K | ngp | n, known and recognized in tuning circles, is already operating at 1957 MHz.

The tuning master acquired an EVGA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card after its release, with which he managed to reach the 1842 MHz clock after some DIY. On the second attempt, K | ngp | na upgraded it to 1,9 GHz. By this time, Zotac's statement that the 2 GHz clock was also available seemed quite realistic.

To reach the dream limit, the EVGA solution was deployed again. The card is basically a reference model, but of course the power circuits have been heavily amplified as it is obvious that the product was not made for this at the factory. Cooling was, of course, provided by a good amount of liquid nitrogen. The result was a 1957 MHz GPU and a 7480 MHz (effective) memory clock. At this operating frequency, the GeForce GTX 680 produced a modest 3 points in Performance mode of the 11DMark 15 meter. During the measurement, an Intel Core i731-7K processor was running in a test machine ticking at 3930 GHz.

It is clear that the GPU-Z was far from at the height of the situation due to the extraordinary parameters of the configuration.
