We tested the GK104: GeForce GTX 680 and high-end guns

Follow the games, with some new / old-new copies in addition to the usual titles!

alienvspredator 1

In Alien versus Predator, we’ve been chasing the Aliens ’tail for a long time, but since it’s a DX11-enabled measurement program and it also uses tessellation, it would be a sin to get rid of it. Predatoros tessellation seems to have been better this time around for the HD 7970, which was able to beat 6 FPS on the base-clock GTX 680, but Kepler has a 10 FPS advantage over the Fermi on a single GPU. The game takes advantage of the power of multi-core cards (if not with the best efficiency), so the GTX 590 and HD 6990 could have taken the lead.

Batman 1

Batman: Arkham City is a fresh game, and the fresh GeForce drive brought performance gains, as the GTX 580 was also able to get ahead of the HD 7970. The GTX 680 beats everything in towers, moves in a different dimension, and the tuning further increases the power. The GTX 590 didn’t feel good in this game either, but the HD 6990 clearly suffered.

battlefield3 1

Battlefield 3 once again brought the GeForce GTX 680 to victory in the field of single-core cards. In terms of average FPS, it beat 13 FPS to its predecessor and 4 to the HD 7970, which is a nice, reassuring advantage and only 7 FPS behind the HD 6990. The GTX 590 confidently took first place.

crysis2 1

In Crysis 2, we turned on and wound everything we could to make the cards sweat as much as possible. They sweated too, but they coped with the burden. In the single-core field, the GTX 680 won again, the GTX 580 could hide, the battle was tight with the HD 7970, but in the end we managed to win by 2 FPS difference. The GTX 590 could once again be at the forefront of the composite, although the OC 680 was no longer far from it. the HD 6990 and Crysis 2 are not friends.

f12011 1

The F1 2011 is no longer one of the latest gamms, but its engine is still good among car games today, and we especially like it because of its built-in measuring module. Our readers would surely never guess: again, the GTX 680 won over the GTX 580 and HD 7970, and the latter was once again in a close battle, as in Crysis 2. The HD 6990 also lagged behind this time, while the GTX 590 was able to complete the task at the forefront. Neon engine 2 is also praised for the fact that the cards, without exception, brought high minimum FPS values.

hard reset 1

The game Hard Reset was included in our measurements for the first time. Not a particularly heavy wall for top cards, but it’s a DX11 title with a built-in metering module, so we followed the philosophy that variety delights. Not only that, but Kepler too. He beat everything in a minimum FPS, and even in an average FPS he was just behind the two dual-core cards, a hair's breadth away. Here the GTX 580, but especially the HD 7970, has something to think about.

hawx2 1

Hawx2 isn’t a chicken anymore either, but we love it, and since there aren’t too many new games to include in testing yet, it could have stayed. For it, we were able to record mean and maximum FPS values, and none were few. Kepler won the single-core battle again, this time ahead of the GTX 580, which defeated the Tahiti-XT. The two GPU models did well, winning the competition.

shogun2 1

Shogun 2 is also available for the first time, armed with a DX11 patch. This was the game that put the most stress on the cards out of all the others, and it shows in the values. We turned on everything we could, and the hot air from the direction of the controls was also full. Kepler, i.e. GTX 680, performed a miracle again and ended our current test series in a dignified manner, probably leaving a deep impression on our readers. The GTX 680 is also at the top of the field in terms of the base clock (tied with the HD 6990), and when tuned, it has the absolute first place. With 580 FPS, we could think of the GTX 29 as a mid-range VGA next to the GTX 680, but if the HD 7970 were a child and AMD was a father, it wouldn't pocket the tepid spanking with a comma that it would get from daddy for this performance. In Shogun 2, the slogan "Áve Kepler" could be painted on the battle flags. We are done with the presentation of the graphs, let the evaluation come!
