Next year, the registers will be kept electronically

From next July, registers will no longer be kept on paper, but electronically. It also simplifies civic administration and the work of registrars.birth certificate On Monday, the National Assembly passed amendments to the law related to the development of the electronic registry against 299 yes and 43 no votes. According to the decision, a uniform, nationwide system will be introduced. The previous four types of registration (birth, marriage, registered partnership and death) will be replaced by one, thus eliminating the obligation to notify between registers. The new system will no longer link data to events, but to individuals, but it will also be possible to issue an extract and an official certificate on this basis. Documents will be available from any registrar, but even at foreign missions.

The electronic registry will contain data on paternal acknowledgments. With its introduction, it becomes unnecessary to sign the marriage registry, but to replace the latter, the marriage certificate is introduced, thus preserving the solemn ceremony of signing. The electronic register also makes it possible to trace the path of the birth certificate. Previous paper-based registries will be digitized as changes occur. The legislation also contains rules on the searchability of civil registry data. The changes require almost one billion forints in IT development, which would be financed by the state from EU tender funds. [mti]
