The 24-hour administrator competition is coming

Young IT professionals will compete with each other in Hungary's only 24-hour system administrator competition, the INFOmarathon.

On April 13 and 14, teams of three will compare their IT skills at the Ferenc Erkel High School and Informatics Vocational School in Gyula. The INFOmarathon is primarily aimed at young people between the ages of 17 and 22 who are interested in IT. It is not a strict condition for entrants to pursue IT studies, but participation requires careful preparation, perseverance, and team spirit from entrants. 
The INFOmarathon 2012 consists of two rounds. On March 2012, 22, an online semi-final will be held for the teams entering the competition, the best 20 of which will advance to the final in Gyula, where they will have 24 hours to prove their IT skills and teamwork in complete system operation tasks.
Supporters of the competition include public sector players, international global companies and domestic companies. These are without the need for completeness: Ministry of National Development, Nemzeti Infokommunikációs Szolgáltató Zrt., Ericsson Hungary, Microsoft, TATA Consultancy Services, PCWorld, GameStar, ATW.hu, Biztributor, G Data Hungary, Wizz Air, RRC, IVG Hungary, Intel, Cisco , HTTP Foundation, Logitech, Szak Publishing, Vodafone, Gyula City Municipality, Jedlik Education Studio and Balabit. The main patron of the competition is Vilmos Vályi-Nagy, Deputy State Secretary for Government Informatics of the Ministry of National Development.
The main organizer of the INFOmarathon, Mihály Szloboda, emphasized that the undisguised aim of the competition is to "draw attention to the fact that education providing marketable expertise has a key role to play in maintaining our competitiveness". The competition is for valuable prizes, the total prize money is millions of forints, and the members of the winning team will be richer with 1-1 Xbox 360 game consoles.
