Toshiba is significantly reducing NAND memory production

The Japanese electronics giant has announced it will cut production of NAND flash memories by about 30 percent. Apple is Toshiba's main customer.
Toshiba NAND According to Toshiba Corporation, there is a huge oversupply in the market. It must also be recognized that demand has fallen short of expectations. The company has previously tried to stabilize prices and reduce inventories by artificially slowing deliveries. This did not bring the desired result, so the parking brake is now being applied at Toshiba’s yokkaichi factory. This situation may change in the second half of the year, as a number of high-profile innovations are expected, which may increase the demand for flash memory chips.

This is not a case without precedent. Three weeks ago, DigiTimes reported that the price of NAND chips appears to be stabilizing after a 6-month deep flight, which could obviously affect the pricing of SSDs as well.
