JavaScript and the Trojan of the week

Every month, ESET compiles a top list of computer viruses spreading in Hungary, from which we can find out what malware is currently threatening the computers of Hungarian users.

Conficker’s already “hired” first place, along with a minimal sequence change, only disrupted the usual picture with the emergence of a rookie pest. The JS / TrojanClicker.Agent Trojan is malicious JavaScript code that, when run on your computer, places malicious code in key folders of Windows (Windows, Windows / System32). It then creates Registry entries that allow the copied infectious components to run automatically so that they are executed after each restart of the computer. In addition, it opens a back door in the system and tries to download additional malicious code from various remote websites.

JavaScript and the Trojan of the week
The monthly virus top list is usually headed by Trojans,
but now a JavaScript malware has also joined the queue.

Analyzing the malware as a whole, we can say that while browsing the Internet, we have a serious chance that various malicious codes or JavaScript-stealing-related JavaScript will run automatically on our computer. In addition to using anti-virus and anti-spyware software, as well as regular security updates for our operating system and programs, it is also very important to configure your browser with adequate security. This, of course, involves some extra work, but we can bring effective defense under our control. Compared to the default status, even a simple setting like the "Accept third-party cookies: confirm every time" option can help a lot.
