New dates for ATI and NVIDIA top cards

We have so many appointments to fit on my calendar, but see if this news is true.

A date for the introduction of cards from both companies has been released in Fudzilla.

If the information is correct, ATI will introduce the HD 2900XT in late April. This card was ready to start even before CeBIT, but in the absence of proper drivers, it is only now being introduced. More importantly, a date on May 14th has also emerged, this would be the real, official debut of the ATI R600, while the end of April will be covered by the NDA, meaning we won’t know anything then, at least officially.

NVIDIA also plans to introduce the GeForce 8800 Ultra in May, by the end of May. We’ve already described everything that could be described about the 8800 Ultra, but now there’s a rumor that not only will the core clock be raised and the cooling replaced, but the card will also get faster memories.

Let’s go back to ATI for a sentence. The real top card, the HD 2900XTX, is not expected to be unveiled before June. GDDR4 memories are quite expensive for the card, plus - if the news is true - its performance won’t be as much higher than that of the XT than its price would justify. The question is whether the XT version will be faster than the NVIDIA Ultra.
