New VIA EPIA motherboard with two processors
VIA has released the EPIA motherboard with the fastest processor to date.
The Mini-ITX motherboard is available with a VIA C7 or VIA Eden integrated processor, which has the great advantage of 90-nanometer technology and a solution without cooling. The C7 processor operates at 1,5 GHz while the Eden operates at 1,2 GHz.
The motherboard has a VIA CN700 IGP chipset that supports DDR2 memory. A DDRII 400/533 slot can hold up to 1 GB of memory.
Our monitor is powered by the integrated VIA UniChrome Pro 2D / 3D graphics display, which also includes MPEG-2 acceleration and HDTV encoding.
As we are used to from VIA's EPIA series, we have a lot of integrated components, including 4 USB 2.0 on the motherboard and a gigabit LAN port.
The six-channel AC \\ ”97 sound card is responsible for the sound quality.
The downside, though, is that we only find one PCI slot on it, but looking through the list of integrated components, I don’t think we’ll need more.
Its size is also impressive as it is only 17 X 17 centimeters.
