Sony has introduced a new UMPC

Knowledge that embarrasses desktop machines in two-handed size.

The new ultra-portable micro PC, called UXN490N, will be launched under the company’s VAIO brand. The exterior of the small device is basically based on a display and a QWERTY keyboard hidden underneath, however, for the most comfortable two-handed operation, the hotkeys integrated in small handrails on both sides of the device help to operate more efficiently.

The soul of the machine is provided by Intel's 1,2 GHz ultra-low voltage Core 2 Solo processor, which can handle 1 gigabyte of DDR2-400 memory. The Intel GMA1024 chip is responsible for the best possible picture quality of the 600 × 4,5 pixel, 950-inch touch screen. The programs had a total of 48 gigabytes of space, although on an SSD drive, but the storage expansion can only be done with external devices - USB 2.0 or Ethernet - or an MS Duo card. Instead of a wired network, of course, you can switch to Wi-Fi at any time, and access your other mobile devices through the built-in Bluetooth controller. Users who are selfish and at the same time voyeur are immediately favored by the manufacturer with two cameras, the weaker 0,3 megapixel piece on the front panel, while the slightly more serious 1,3 megapixel lens is located on the back panel.

The manufacturer packs a Li-ion battery for the UXN490N, which they claim can keep the UMPC alive for 1,5-3,5 hours. Not bad for a $ 2400 micro PC.
