The introduction of MasterCard Mobile opens a new era in the development of mobile payments, as it is the first payment application in Hungary, which, regardless of which mobile operator or bank the customer uses, only allows payment with a credit card, thus opening the use of these types of applications. in front of millions of MasterCard cardholders.

MasterCard Mobile will initially provide payment services in three areas:

- allows extremely convenient and fast payment of certain service provider bills,

After downloading and registering the application, the bank card must also be registered over the phone, the one-time fee is HUF 99 gross. After that, the customer no longer has to enter their card details for each payment. Not only does this make payments from the phone faster and more convenient, but it is also reassuring for many users, as research shows that the proportion of consumers who are reluctant to use their card details when making online payments remains high. Therefore, when paying with MasterCard Mobile, you do not need to enter either the card number or the bank card security CVC or PIN code. Enter the cardholder's mobile phone number, or the MasterCard Mobile ID specifically provided for the service, when making the payment, and confirm the payment request to your phone with the transaction details by entering a six-digit alphanumeric secret code (mPIN). MPIN is a permanent code that the user chooses when registering the application and can be changed at any time via their phone. The mPIN is not the same as the credit card PIN.
MasterCard expects a steady expansion of the providers and merchants available through the app. Currently, T-Mobile and T-Home accounts with Telenor and QR codes can be settled using MasterCard Mobile, and purchases can be made from Bookline, Bonus Brigade, Wine Company and GRoby.
MasterCard Mobile is free to download for smartphones running iOS 4.0 (iPhone) and Android 2.2 (or higher), regardless of mobile operator. For users who do not have a mobile phone using one of these operating systems on traditional devices with a dynamic SIM card from Telenor and T-Mobile - a so-called By downloading the STK (SIM Tool Kit) application - the MasterCard Mobile service also works. (The special SIM card can be requested in the shops of mobile service providers).
All MasterCard credit cards can be registered in the MasterCard Mobile application. It is expected that it will also be possible to use the application with Maestro bank cards in the near future. Of course, in order to download MasterCard Mobile and perform purchase operations, it is necessary to provide an Internet connection to the phone - in the case of the SIM Tool Kit, an SMS connection.
According to the data of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank for the first half of 2011, there are more than 3,6 million MasterCard branded bank cards in circulation in Hungary, so a significant part of the domestic card portfolio can be used in the MasterCard Mobile application, which also accepts foreign-issued MasterCard cards.
