Internet Explorer 9: HTML5 & H.264 support

He looks at the giant competition at the Redmond giant seriously.

Microsoft recently one on his blog provided important information about your new browser, which is still under development. According to them, it is now certain that IE9 will be equipped with native video playback thanks to the HTML5 standard. This will not only make you independent of Flash Player, but also faster and more stable. Regarding the video format, the browser will only support H.264 encoding. This is not surprising, since all YouTube videos are in this format by default.

Internet Explorer 9 HTML5 & H.264 support

Microsoft mentions reliability, security, and speed issues with Flash Player. The ninth Explorer focuses on a combination of HTML5 and H.264. One reason is that IE9 will perform the rendering, including videos, using the graphics processor, making much smoother, more fluid rendering available, as it saves the CPU a lot of computation.

Among the competing browsers, Google Chrome and Apple Safari support the video combination mentioned above. Firefox only supports HTML5-based video playback if the media in question is not in H.264 but in Ogg-Theora format. It will be very interesting what Mozilla will do with its browser in this area, as it is unlikely that only they will switch YouTube to OGG format.
