Intel Core i7 940

Minor confusion around the names.

We already know that next-generation Intel processors based on the Nehalem architecture are expected to be available in a month. Initially, in terms of the desktop segment, three models will be available from the Bloomfield family: Extreme, Performance and Mainstream (read more here can be read). We may have learned about it before our pages with the help that the latest CPU-Z no longer has a problem identifying newcomers.

From this guide, we can already guess what happened: yes, a lucky colleague from the Far East finally got a digital lens of the Bloomfield ticking at 2,93 GHz in a GIGABYTE X58-DS4 board, which was identified by CPU-Z as a Core i7 940. This may also be interesting, since until now several sources have known this new central unit as a "plain" 900. The bottom line is: everything about the new series is slowly coming to light, and we hope that we will soon be confronted with authentic measurement results.
