AIB partner HIS has introduced (perhaps for the first time) a new R9-280X iPower IceQX2 graphics accelerator that differs from the reference design.

HIS has packed the newcomer with its own solutions. Let's look at the data first. Unlike the factory, the GPU core comes with an overdrive by default. It operates at exactly 1050 MHz, while the factory only operates at 850 MHz. The 3GB GDDR5 memory clock remained at the factory value, which is effectively 1500 MHz (6000 MHz).

Now let's see what else the manufacturer has added. IPower is also first here, which covers the fact that extra power phases have been built into the card, thus ensuring stability and the possibility of further overclocking. Of course, this also requires proper cooling. This is taken care of by the manufacturer's own IceQX2 cooler, the huge aluminum block is connected to the GPU with a copper core, from which 5 heat pipes help to transfer heat to the slats. Two 9 cm fans are responsible for the continuous supply of cold air. Anyone who has been lucky enough to solve HIS knows full well that he does all this very effectively, almost silently. This is still the case, as 28 dB is very quiet.

Let's look further. The manufacturer also provides us with iTurbo software, which allows the user to adjust the speed of the fans, and this software also helps us to further overdrive.

The card is sold online for $ 319,99, which is only $ 20 higher than its peers with other reference designs and knowledge.
