According to a Windows Team Blog report, home users can essentially choose from two editions of Windows 8. In addition, there will be a version designed for the ARM architecture and a server version.

Windows 8 comes to home in three editions 1

Based on the entry, the new operating system will be available in two editions on Windows 32 and 64-bit x86-based computers, as well as non-ARM-based tablets: Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro, which will be a good choice for most users. This release already includes Windows Explorer, an updated task manager, and enhancements for multi-monitor environments. The only file point may be the lack of Media Center, which will only be available in the Pro version. You can change the system language without rebooting, which was only possible in Enterprise and Ultimate before. Versions that are only available in the language of that country may be available in China and some emerging countries.

Windows 8 Pro is designed to serve the needs of tech enthusiasts and technicians alike. This release gets extra features and services that few would likely use in a home environment, such as drive encryption, virtualization, PC management, and Domain Connection. Windows 8 Pro feels comfortable in a maximalist hand and in a technical and business environment.

Windows RT is the latest member of the Windows family. This version was formerly known as Windows ARM or WOA. This is essentially a one-time release, will only be available pre-installed, and can only be seen on tablets with an ARM processor. Windows RT will include touch-optimized versions of the new Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote by default.
