GeForce 6100 and nForce 430: renamed and merged!

Like AMD, NVIDIA is renaming some of its products, so the new name may even be misleading to more uninformed customers.

As the first step in the expected renaming wave, NVIDIA has renamed the GeForce 6100 integrated graphics controller GeForce 7050, while the nForce 430 chipset has been renamed nForce 630a. Of course, the new name is not just about commercial considerations. The tile referred to as MCP61P, which we have previously presented, also includes the north (GeForce 7050) and south (nForce 630a) bridges within a single silicon core.

By combining previous technologies, NVIDIA has found a suitable competitor to the soon-to-arrive AMD 690G - previously for ATI RS690. The MCP61P DirectX 9.0cs IGP, Windows Vista Premium-Ready certification, dual-channel DDR2-533 / 667/800 speed controller, PCI Express x16, PCIe x1 and PCI device management, HD audio , a gigabit Ethernet network controller, and ten USB 2.0 and three SATA ports.
