The one-armed giant is the AMD A10-5800K

Based on the first measurements, the performance of the Trinity APU series flagship evokes mixed emotions.

The AMD A10-5800K APU uses two Piledriver modules, for a total of 4 actuators. The second-level cache is 4 MB in size, while L3 is completely missing. The strength of the chip is the HD7660D graphics solution, which significantly marks its predecessor based on 3DMark 06 measurements. The performance of the integrated GPU is well characterized by the data that it approached the dream limit of 10 points in this synthetic measurement program. Unfortunately, the situation with the central unit is no longer so rosy. The 3,8 GHz operating frequency can be upgraded by the Turbo Core 2.0 with an additional 400 MHz, but even that is not enough for salvation. The performance of the Husky cores used with Llano processors has hardly been surpassed.  AMD Llano_A8_3850_benchAMD Trinity_A10_5800k_benchIt wasn’t an easy thing for the engineers basically, as the Trinity, like the Llano, is made with a bandwidth of 32 nm, so the benefits of more modern manufacturing technology are now gone. According to rumors, the chip size used in the AMD A10-5800K APU is only 10% larger than its predecessor.
